The Mom Pledge
So while browsing another blog today I came across a button that had a picture of hands in a circle that said, "Take The Pledge." Clicking it I was happy and kind of emotional at the same time. The pledge is a community of mothers who are focused on stopping "Cyber-Bullying" throughout the web. When posting the button on your page, you are supposed to post about what it means to you.
Here is what this action means to me.
Bullying in general is just plain out mean. Not to long ago I was a happy digital scrapbook designer. Excited I joined my first store and opened a shop there. One of the members that runs the site had stumbled across a blog that had rather hurtful things on it about other members of the Digital Scrapbook Designers community. In designers terms its called a "Smack Blog" and people actually go there and talk very mean and hateful about other designers. Now the owner that I'm referring to (The one who was talked about) was going to shut everything down and quit scrapping entirely. (Thankfully we all talked her out of it.) Those people hurt her, they dogged her designs and belittled her and it was awful. I'm only using this as an example bullying should not be tolerated anywhere online, school, work. It's sad to know that grown people are actual bullies themselves. I'm glad there is a community out there against this and I'm honored to be apart of it!

Thank you so much for joining our community! It is sad and disturbing that there are sites dedicated to such hateful behavior, but there are many of them. We just have to rise above and not let them get to us!
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! And yes it is very sad!
