My Confessions - 1

Good morning guys! These are my confessions.

Confession 1: I hate it when I walk into my youngest sons bedroom and he is standing on his dresser.

For the past month my youngest son has became a small version of Evel Kenevil. He is not scared of anything. Everyday I am constantly having to keep him from causing himself serious harm. He climbs on my desk , the kitchen table, the back of the couch, his dresser and is now trying to climb over baby gates when they are in place. Let me remind you of how "dinky" he is. Tall and skinny and so full of energy. The dresser is now my biggest fear-- because he climbs on the top and stands up trying to reach his "babies" that I have stored in a corner hanger. My fear is me going to the bathroom and him deciding to jump off, every horrible thing that could happen just rushes through my head. It's awful. The only options that I see are available is:

A) remove the dresser and place a chest of drawers in his closet with a lock on the door.( this will also cut my laundry bill down because the re-washing will not be as much.)

B) get the cabinet locks and place them on the dresser drawers. ( which he has learned to use as a ladder to climb to the top of "cause my mom a heart attack mountain".)

What are your thoughts and opinions on this situation? Please leave a comment if you can help my nerves lol

  1. I know that feeling all too well. I have a 16 month old toddler monster. That boy isn't afraid of anything. He jumps off our couch and his grandparents couch. He walks off the stairs without holding on. Just yesterday he climbed on the dining room table and tried to slide off. I am always panicking but I have learned when he feels he is danger he stops. It drives me insane but he is exploring. Soon he'll be on to something new. I would say to get the locks and see if that works for him

  2. Thanks for the feedback, I think I will give the locks a chance.

  3. I would take the dresser out of it was that dangerous or have some sort of punishment if you catch him.

  4. I know exactly what you're going through! My youngest son was obsessed with climbing on everything.... and then he broke his arm when he was 2 years old, super scary! I think I would move it into the closet, just to be on the safe side. He's eventually going to figure out how to moving 'something' close enough to still be able to climb up there!

    Good Luck!

  5. I had a climber too. SO Frightening that they are so quick and dangerous! My son at 1 1/2 dragged his push along car up a flight of 4 stairs and launched himself off = (broken nose) AHG!! - jenny at dapperhouse
