Every year my oldest always decorated the tree with his Nana. Sadly she passed away this year due to Cancer. A very big TRAGEDY in our lives. I wanted to try and make this year seem the same as all the others by using the same decorations that they used on the tree that they decorated (she gave it to us last year to use while she was still with us. )
So we got out the decorations and we hung them (well he hung them ,ALL of them in one spot like usual.) Let's remember that last year my youngest was just getting the hang of crawling and I did not have my darling Bella (Cat) so this morning we wake up and there are balls all over the living room and my cat is sound asleep in yes IN the tree. I immediately made her get out of the tree and picked all of the balls up and placed them back onto the tree. Throughout the day today my youngest picked the balls off (he also pulls the hooks off of them) and tried to throw them as if they were bouncy balls. Each time I of course got onto him and placed them back onto the tree. Well this afternoon while the kids were down for their naps I realized that my cat was missing I looked for her and couldn't find her anywhere, even got worried that she may have been outside. FINALLY my light-bulb went off , there she was just laying in the tree close to the top looking out the window. So I got her out and called my hubby to let him know my plan. The balls came down after I found one in the hallway destroyed. They didnt turn out exactly like I wanted but two large bows went up on top and the very pretty star came down along with the red and silver ornaments. I placed the small red ribbons I made last year throughout the tree and called it a day. I'm not saying that the ribbons won't be strewn throughout the house but the ornaments with sentimental value will be safe and free to use once the children get a little older.
Here are some funny photo's of my cat for you to see. She is sooo silly! lol

OH my gosh that's awesome!! Your tree is amazing!! Kitty cat included :)
ReplyDeleteAww Thanks!
DeleteI'm so sorry for your loss. As for us, once we started having active children, we decided to go with homemade, child safe ornaments. We'll pull out the glass ones when kids are old enough to leave them on the tree.
ReplyDeleteThe balls I had on the tree originally were the shatterproof ones , however I found one in the hallway busted from one of the boys stepping on it =\ I think we will be making some of the salt dough ornaments today...if it turns out well I will share a post of that! lol
DeleteHaha this made me laugh so hard and think of my cat Nutmeg. She likes to grab th plastic balls off and play with them. I bought one at Michaels for her to play with and now she stays away from our tree more. :)
ReplyDeleteLoL. I finally had to remove the ribbons as well. She has started sleeping in the tree at night =\ I don't like the fact that our tree is so bare. Maybe if I could lock her in the room with us at night? That might work but then she would lick us to death all night lol! (I'll consider the plastic ball for her to play with, maybe it will help if I just buy her a basket full of toys! lol)
