Today's prompt: What is one of your favorite flowers?
Have you noticed that most of the time the answer is "Rose" for most people. I'm not saying that people do not favor roses but there certainly cannot be THAT many people who favor roses. Anyways I do LIKE roses and YES the RED ones are just fine for me (since red {crimson} ) is my favorite color :) However my FAVORITE flower is the Cannon Lilly :) They are absolutely gorgeous! And they bring back TONS AND TONS of childhood memories since they too were my father's favorite (one of them at-least.)

Canna (or canna lily, although not a true lily) is a genus of nineteen species of flowering plants.[1][2][3] The closest living relations to cannas are the other plant families of the order Zingiberales, that is the Zingiberaceae (gingers), Musaceae (bananas), Marantaceae, Heliconiaceae, Strelitziaceae, etc.[4]
Canna is the only genus in the family Cannaceae. Such a family has almost universally been recognized by taxonomists. The APG II system of 2003 (unchanged from the APG system, 1998) also recognizes the family, and assigns it to the order Zingiberales in the clade commelinids, in the monocots.
The species have large, attractive foliage and horticulturists have turned it into a large-flowered and bright garden plant. In addition, it is one of the world's richest starch sources, and is an agricultural plant.[4]
Hmm Didn't know I had been pronouncing it wrong ALL these years --- now if someone had known that it was Canna instead of CANNON I bet they thought I was a fool .... Well we learn something everyday right:?
